Sharon M Williams

Love is…

forever with God

It cannot be shaded

or infused with darkness

Love is the sun

It shines for the seeing

It shines for the blind

Love knows the trees,

the animals and the breeze

Love comforts the dead

It veers not

down uncertain paths

Love is sure

Discover it

Embrace it

Hold on tight

So much is mistaken

for love

“Love is patient; love is kind”

It’s quiet enough to hear

what needs to be said

and loud enough to drown out

what doesn’t

Love is the first note of your favorite song

When you’re scared, lonely or sad

love is your Grand Canyon

of divine spirit

May you see the eagle flying

May he tip his wing to you

Love gives birth to blessings

kindness, forgiveness

and life

God is love

and so are you

Who among us

can write of death
close death
the remorse
for loss of time
without a flood
of lovers’ tears

We must keep
the mourning
We must claw
at the rations
of grief
against the morbidity
of the clock
There will soon
be fewer hours
from sunrise
to sunset

We must keep
the morning
for there’s humanity
in the tea,
the baked bread,
and the thinly spread jam
