Frank’s Conversation with Death

Frank enters the cold half lit room

a small table, two chairs

he waits, his appointment arrives late

they face each other

Frank explains, the illness, anger, disappointment

in his life, abilities, increasing darkness,

despite meaning

death chuckles,

points out the obvious, life stages, deterioration,

life span and past spent,

asks about his expectations,

observations, lessons, relationships

with others, nature, consciousness

Frank gets angry, wants clear answers,

direction,

death smiles, “5 years, 10 tops, “

then leaves as Frank

sits in silence

wonders what to do with his time.
